Renjith comes from the Pothiyil family of Chakyars. He was initiated into Kutiyattam at the age of 12 by Guru Ammannur Madhava Chakyar. He had his debut at the age of 14 at the Vadakkumnathan temple Koothambalam.

 He has trained under Guru Ammannur Madhava Chakyar, Parameswara Chakyar and Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar at  Ammannur Chachu Chakyar Smaraka Gurukulam with a scholarship from the Sangeet Natak Academy. He has also learnt Sanskrit under Late.Dr.Painkulam Parameswara Chakyar.

He is a graduate.

He has played major roles in Kutiyattam such as Kalyanasaugandhikam, Jatayuvadham, Hanumadootam, Thoranayudham, Samudrataranam, Parnasalamkam, Soorpanakhamkam, Jatayuvadham, Asokavanikamkam directed by Guru Ammannur, Sakuntalam directed by G.Venu, Mayasirass, Prathamadviteeyamkam by Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar and has also participated in the production of Naganandam.

He performs most of the important roles of the important Kutiyattam and also performs Chakyar Koothu.

He performs annually at the Vadakkumnathan Koothambalam, Guruvayoor Koothambalam and other major temples in Kerala..

He has performed widely with the Ammannur Chachu Chakyar Smaraka Gurukulam and Natankairali within and in outside India participating in several national and international festivals He has also traveled with solo performances.

He was a participant of the Abhinaya Kalari (acting laboratory) organised by Natanakairali and Sanskriti Pravah. 

Presently he is working as an actor at  Ammannur Gurukulam.
